If there is any sign of moisture damage, mildew, or mold in the attic insulation, we recommend a full removal before upgrading. Covering over damp insulation can trap humidity and lead to serious air quality and structural problems.

3. Rodents or Contamination

4. Type and Depth of Existing Material

Some older attics have a minimal layer of loose fill or batt insulation that can easily be topped up to reach R50. Others may have outdated materials like vermiculite, which must be tested or removed for safety reasons.

5. Ventilation and Airflow Considerations
